New in tech this week – GPT store, Instagram updates

Let’s start with the GPT store, think app store but on another level.

The store allows you to “discover and create custom versions of ChatGPT that combine instructions, extra knowledge, and any combination of skills,” according to OpenAI.

The store includes personalized trail recommendations from AllTrails, Khan Academy’s Code TutorCanva and more.

They say “building your own GPT is simple and doesn’t require any coding skills.”

You can also earn money using the tool.

“In Q1 we will launch a GPT builder revenue program. As a first step, US builders will be paid based on user engagement with their GPTs,” according to OpenAI leaders.

Meanwhile, Instagram has announced new safety measures for teens, following pressure from lawmakers.

“We’re automatically placing all teens into the most restrictive content control settings on Instagram and Facebook and restricting additional terms in Search on Instagram,” they announced on Tuesday.

“We’re also restricting more search terms around suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders and directing people to expert resources for help,” said Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram.
